Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
The band was inducted to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in New York on 11 January, and during the evening they performed ‘Pinball Wizard’. All three members were present, and after two fairly strange speeches by Daltrey and Entwistle, Mandy Moon, Keith’s daughter, accepted on behalf of her father. Pete Townshend’s speech was articulate and heartfelt, and ended with him saying that he did not know where the future lay for the band but – referring to the music around him – tellingly said: ‘It’s not up to us to try to understand it. It’s not even up to us to buy it. We just need to get the fuck out of the way.’ And that’s exactly what The Who did.
