(Vocal/instrumental group, 2002–present)
Although recent years have seen the group’s future thrown into question as a direct result of singer Craig Nicholls being diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, Australia’s Vines – Nicholls, Ryan Griffiths (guitar) and Hamish Rosser (drums) – continue to make their neat fusion of Nirvana-style noise and 1960s melodicism. Despite no longer touring as a result, the trio, now on their third album (2006’s Vision Valley) possess a ferocity and snarl that is offset by their blatant understanding of just what makes music catchy and memorable.
