(Vocal/instrumental group, 1983–90)
After The Jam, Paul Weller was seeking a smoother sound; with Mick Talbot (keyboards), Steve White (drums) and Dee C. Lee (vocals) he came up with the modern soul of Top 5 UK hits ‘Speak Like A Child’, ‘Long Hot Summer’ and ‘My Ever Changing Moods’. Café Bleu (1984) was a fine showcase of his new direction, and classics ‘Shout It To The Top’ and Our Favourite Shop (1985) emerged before the band stagnated, and Weller plotted anew.
